About Brian

I grew up in Columbus, Ohio (Go Bucks!) and attended Miami University. It was at Miami that I was saved by God’s grace. After graduation I married my high school sweetheart, Nikki, and moved to Kalamazoo, MI. It was through involvement in my local church that I felt a desire to attend seminary and serve the Lord as a Pastor. After receiving an M. Div. from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary in Spring 2002, we began our ministry at Grand Ledge Baptist Church. I currently serve as one of the church’s Co-Pastors.

We have three children.  I enjoy just about anything that involves them.

I love to read and study. In fact, school is my primary hobby. In 2007 I completed a Master of Theology in Systematic Theology at Calvin Theological Seminary with my thesis work on the Emerging Church Movement. In 2008 I began a Doctor of Ministry at Fuller Theological Seminary emphasizing leadership, teaching, and spiritual development in the missional church.

Brian, per your suggestion on Thursday I’ve been out reading blogs and your website here at church. “About Brian” above as I read it I was reminded of Maximus in the arena in the movie Gladiator.
I did read the part of the blog about leadership and the 8 or 9 points. Good thougths for leaders. Reflect, forgive and move forward comes to mind.

    Brian,

I live in Dallas, Georgia and stumbled on your blog after spending much time reading about N.T. Wright. I’m a worship leader and find inspiration from reformed theology, I call it humble theology, anyhow, just wanted to drop in and say God bless you guys. Looks like you fellows are doing a great work there!
check out my band Sola Gratia on the website! God bless!

Hey Brian I saw that you have blogged about the New Perspective on Paul. If you are familiar with “The Paul Page”, I recently had an interview with the man who created “The Paul Page”. Check it out if you are interested.

Brian & Nikki: We enjoyed the lunch last Sunday giving us opportunity to get better acquainted with you pastors & families, as well as some newer folks. We are “seniors” and don’t get too involved with activities, but I have attended Womens’ Bible studies & exercise. We find GLBC most gracious & hospitable, and know God is blessing & ministering every week!!
