Abortion - You Can Have an Impact

1 in 5 pregnancies end in abortion globally - an overwhelming statistic when you understand what this represents. We prayed for mothers and babies on Sunday. Oh, how we could do so much more.

Let me make a few suggestions to help you think through what you can do to help.

Pray. We should not underestimate prayer. Pray for Mothers and Fathers. Pray for unborn babies. Pray for abortion providers and doctors - that they would come to faith and repentance. Pray for women who have had abortions. Pray for pregnancy centers that help women make the right choice.

Learn. We should know what is going on in our world and in our nation. We should understand the tragic facts and methods so that our hearts and hands are moved to act on behalf of the unborn.

Here are a four helpful websites:

selfevidenttruth.org - a helpful resource geared for younger people but has much to offer for everyone interested in learning more.

Abort73.com - a site that gives a comprehensive overview - well done, compelling.

Project Grace
- a site that helps men and women who chose to have an abortion and need help.

DesiringGod.org - John Piper’s resource page on abortion: sermons and articles.

Serve. Get involved in a tangible way with your hands and your heart. We partner with Shared Pregnancy here in Lansing, and there are many ways you can help with your time, donations, and labor. Call them and say, “I’d like to help.”

Feel. I think that those of us who feel only slightly moved by the idea of abortion have disconnected from the problem. It’s not a pleasant place to go in our minds, so we turn a blind eye, and numb our hearts to the pain, the suffering, the loss of life, and consequently, fail to represent God and His Word. I’m hoping that this post helps us feel a bit more of the heartache and moves us all in the right direction. God help us.
